In the last post, I talked about how great companies don’t just sell services or products—they solve problems. They identify a specific pain point, offer a simple solution, and show customers how their lives will be better as a result.

After the messaging around this “problem-solution-result” is nailed, the big question is:
Can your business deliver on the promise?

If you say you’re the medicine to your customer’s pain—but your delivery falls short—you lose trust fast.

Take the CarMax example from my last post. Their messaging promised a fair and hassle-free car buying experience. But they didn’t stop at smart ad copy—they engineered an entire operational model around their promise:

• No-haggle pricing became a company-wide policy.

• Staff were trained to guide, not pressure.

• Tech, service, and support were structured to reinforced trust.

From that execution, they grew to be the largest car sales company in the U.S.

That’s the power of alignment.

That’s why in our companies, we don’t stop at brand strategy. We dig into processes, customer experience and retention, and execution. As I’ve mentioned in other posts, we do this through using EOS – Entrepreneurial Operating System to ensure that our companies deliver consistently. I love their tagline, “Get a Grip on Your Business” because that’s exactly what it does. After setting a vision and core values that reflect our “why”, EOS creates internal accountability through:

• Rocks – clearly defined, 90-day priorities that focus our team’s energy on achieving strategic goals and translate our promises into tangible, actionable steps.

• Scorecards – weekly tracking tools to that use leading indicators that let us know if we’re executing effectively, flag breakdowns, and predict future performance.

• Accountability Charts – that show who’s responsible for what, making sure everyone on our various teams understand exactly where they fit and what’s expected of them, so nothing falls through the cracks.

We make the investment in EOS because brand positioning without execution is just a pitch. But when our messaging is backed up by delivering on our promises, we build trust, retain customers, and grow our portfolio of companies—not only in revenue and profit, but by impacting the lives of those we strive to serve.

What’s a company you’ve seen that not only tells a great story—but lives it?
